Two years ago, PocketFiver shaundeeb (pictured) could be found playing 20 or more tables in an afternoon tournament session at PokerStars as he strived to reach the very top of the Stars Tournament Leaderboard. Many online players remember Shaun entering every tournament on the schedule as he built his bankroll and moved up in stakes. On Wednesday, July 16th, Shaun Deeb became the #1 ranked online tournament player in the world -- an accomplishment that reflects an enormous amount of play combined with an enormous amount of talent. His victory on Tuesday night in the Full Tilt Poker Turbo $30k Guaranteed put him over the top. There was more movement in the top 10 this week, as Chris moorman1 Moorman of the United Kingdom moved up one to #3, and Russell rdcrsn Carson of Canada climbed one spot to #5. Even PURPLEPILS99 entered the top 10 and is up three to #9, and Brian SN8WMAN Hawkins is up one to #10.
Steve gboro780 Gross (pictured) is up two to #12 after reaching six final tables in the month of July so far - including wins in the Full Tilt $30k Guaranteed and $100 rebuy tournaments. Steve also had a win last month in the Absolute Poker $150k Guaranteed Weekly tournament. Mendieta19 of Sweden is up two to #17 after taking down the PartyPoker Guaranteed and final tabling the PokerStars $100 rebuy on Tuesday night. Another top player from Sweden, Tomgus456, jumped 14 spots to #32 thanks to his outright victory in the Full Tilt $65k Guaranteed last week. Chris SLOPPYKLOD Klodnicki, who placed 12th in this year's WSOP Main Event for nearly $592k, is up seven to #34 after compiling 1st and 2nd place finishes in the Stars $100 rebuy and the Full Tilt $1k Monday respectively, while JohnnyBelow of Norway ascends to the #41 worldwide ranking.
Adam Roothlus Levy, who also went deep in the WSOP Main Event, is up 11 to #47 and 4ofakindbud moves up 11 to #49. Mark dipthrong Herm (pictured) enters the rankings this week at #54 on the heels of an incredible showing in Sunday major tournaments. This past Sunday, Mark took down the Full Tilt $750k Guaranteed and the Bodog $100k Guaranteed for a combined total over $170,000. He also has an outright win in the Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan from earlier this month. P5'er The Universe took down the Full Tilt $60k Guaranteed earlier this week, and finds himself ranked #55 in the world at online tournament play, as holdplz moves up 12 to #57. Kory s00tedj0kers Kilpatrick climbs 11 to #59, followed by Pokersavage1, who is now ranked #66 - up 11 spots from last week.
Jocke RIPCURL Treijs of Sweden took down the PokerStars 2x Daily Fifty Grand earlier in the week to enter the rankings at #72, as Hixx enjoyed a nice 17-spot rankings boost to #74 worldwide. Cesar Makavelyces Fuentes moves up 19 to #77. New to the rankings this week are longtime high-stakes MTT players stsitron and bbbbb33 at #80 and #81 respectively; followed by newcomer Dan wretchy Martin (pictured) of Oregon who enters the worldwide rankings at #84. Tom titantom32 Braband is new at #89 and Tony Bond18 Dunst re-enters the rankings at #94.
