low stakes online vs higher stakes and casino play
By Tim Johnson on 09-07-2008 7:15 AM

I am very dubious about the integrity of several online poker companies. I am accumulating evidence that people playing small stakes games are getting skun by several large companies. I have had inside word that "the powers that be" within said companies beleive that small stakes customers won't pursue action over such small losses and are thus fair game. My experience, and everyone I know who plays indicates that good hands are given to entice big bets from "targets". The fact that more loose bets on these low stake games is "expected" is used as a potential defence. I have several freinds in law enforcement and political arena's who agree and may take things further. Granted online play is much faster than casino play, but in my own experience shocking beats per hand are horrifically larger playing low stakes games online than live and significantly worse than playing high stakes games online.

The publication of the disgraceful conduct of Absolute Poer recently was only as a result of the accidental sending of a players hand histories, indicating implicit fraud on the part of Absolute Poker. There is nothing to say that other companies are also engagine in such conduct. They in my book are simply not sending out self-incriminating evidence as Absolute Poker did. Had they not, they would still be skinning people.

Human nature indicates that people will try to take advantage of a situation if they think they can get away with it. In my opinion, lack of transparency and jurisdiction is leading to just that here.

This is a great post I was wondering why I lose all the time thought it was me but now I can blame them for taking my money Angry

Can't blame them yet. They are able to destroy any evidence they have at will. The main point is that they can do anything they wish and you will be none the wiser. Absolute Poker getting caught-out was a fluke, and their people are now spread out in all of the other sites. I am out of online stuff now. Can't prove anything yet. Problem is that when it gets regulated the Fed will take 40% of all wins.

When you get further with the building of your case, PM me i'll be glad to send you my last 2 or 3 hundred buy-in last hand histories. I 'll be happy to send you my HARD Drive from my last computer as well. I am not alone in supporting you in this, but be careful this forum will give you much 'flaming' for attempting to uncover such rigging. The first thing you will encounter is people asking you for evidence (of which you and I cannot provide) the simple fact is that only an accounting firm can take a snapshot from say 100,000 deals and come up with their own "point of view" in other words a mathematical summary, not evidence. I have proof only that the B.I.O.S. on my machine was changed to enable booting from my network card. I'm certain that many of you have pc's with similar problems. The aggreement made when you sign-up on a site gives some freedom and protection to the sites. A scandal will be uncovered concerning the big 3 or 4 sites, when is the question.

It will be uncovered when enough people see it as a multimillion dollar scam. Unfortunately we have no one to go to with this as the gov gets no tax from it. I would be more than happy to pay 40% to the government if it was fair! As it is I will only play casino games. The best thing players can do at the moment is to stop putting their money in to online companies. It has to be regulated unfortunately. That is life. People will always be tempted.

I agree with you, Casino games are definitely +EV compared to Rigged online poker

Tim Johnson:

Human nature indicates that people will try to take advantage of a situation if they think they can get away with it.

Human nature is that someone who had a "golden key" to a "rigged poker site" would not stay disciplined enough to relentlessly steal at lower small stakes levels. Human nature is to get greedy.  If you can make nickels for free, then why not dimes, then dollars and soon it's not small stakes anymore.

Human nature is also to think that you won't get caught, until you get caught.
